Boulder County issued the following announcement on Dec. 8.

Small businesses throughout Boulder County and the nation have been incredibly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of Boulder County’s economic response and recovery efforts, Boulder County will be providing a package of up to $500 of personal protective equipment (PPE), cleaning supplies and sanitizers, and $500 of to-go food containers to eligible small businesses in towns, cities, and unincorporated areas in the county that have been adversely impacted by the coronavirus epidemic.

The Boulder County Commissioners recognize the key role small businesses play in our county, including providing employment opportunities, keeping more dollars in our local economy, and strengthening the character and unique identity of our communities. The funding for the project is provided through the federal Coronavirus Relief Fund.

Business owners who meet eligibility requirements (below) can apply for packages of these materials starting Wednesday, Dec. 9 by visiting www.boco.org/C19-supplies and completing the online application and order form. There are a limited number of packages available, so they will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Boulder County’s Partner’s for a Clean Environment, (PACE) will administer the program and a vendor will package and deliver supplies to businesses.

Eligible business types are limited to:

• Restaurants
• Hotel/motel/hospitality
• Gyms
• Personal services (Beauty services, personal training, massage therapists, cleaning services, pet care services, etc.)
• Nonprofits (except hospitals and long-term care facilities who are already eligible for supplies from Boulder County)

Eligibility criteria for businesses:

• Located within Boulder County.
• Currently open and operating.
• Currently providing in-person services, which can include to-go or curbside delivery.
• Employs less than 50 employees, currently, across all operations and locations.
• Must not be a publicly traded company unless it is a privately-owned franchise.
• Owner lives in Colorado and manages and/or is included in day-to-day operations and makes long-term business decisions.
• Business is current on all city, county, and state of Colorado accounts.

The goals of this program are to:

1. Support public health compliance in small businesses to protect the health of employees and customers
2. Support the economic viability of small businesses that have experienced additional reduced operations due to recent public health orders
3. Introduce restaurants to sustainable products that support the county’s circular economy and climate action goals
