BOULDER VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT: Our hearts are with those impacted by Cal-Wood Fire

Boulder Valley School District issued the following announcement on Oct. 17.

It has been difficult to see another plume of smoke grow in the mountains and know that this time BVSD families and employees are directly impacted. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by the Cal-Wood Fire, including those evacuated.

First and foremost, we deeply hope that everyone is safe.

We are thinking of everyone that is displaced at this hour, waiting for news about developments about the fire and their homes. Growing up in Florida and having to evacuate for hurricanes I have some idea of what they are going through – and my heart goes out to them. It is extremely difficult.

The Boulder County Office of Emergency Management has stood up an excellent website with updates, as well as a map that provides updated information on the fire and evacuations. Finally, we know the smoke is posing a health risk. Take action to protect yourself and your family with the tips provided on Boulder County’s Wildfire Air Quality & Health website.

It is too early to know what impact the fire will have on our mountain communities and schools, but we will provide updates as information becomes available – including ways that we as a community can come together to support those impacted.
