CITY AND COUNTY OF BROOMFIELD: Broomfield Names Three Finalists in City and County Attorney Recruitment

City and County of Broomfield issued the following announcement on Oct. 16.

Upon the announcement that current City and County Attorney Shaun Sullivan is retiring, the Mayor and City Council led a nationwide recruitment that began on August 20, 2020. The posting closed for the first review of applications on September 27, 2020.  

Fourteen applications were received, eight were deemed qualified and their applications were evaluated by the Mayor and City Council on October 12, 2020.  

The Mayor and City Council identified three finalists listed below and requested they be invited back for future interviews with City Council. Dates for interviews and a final decision will be published on upcoming agendas as they are finalized. 

  • Michael Foote has been a Principal Attorney for Foote Law Firm LLC since July 2019.  Previously he served in the role as a State Senator for the Colorado Legislature from December 2018 to December 2020, he was an Attorney for Smith Byers, LLC from October 2018 to July 2019, and a State Representative for the Colorado Legislature from January 2013 to December 2018. He was employed as a Deputy District Attorney for the 20th Judicial District Attorney’s Office from May 2004 to July 2018.  Mr. Foote has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science/History from Indiana University, a master’s in Global Studies from the University of Denver, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado. 
  • George Hypolite is currently Corporate Counsel for Flatiron Construction Corporation where he has been employed since March 2019. Before that he worked as an Assistant City Attorney for the City and County of Denver from October 2014 to January 2019. He was Corporate Counsel for P2B Investor Incorporated from January 2019 to March 2019.  Mr. Hypolite has a bachelor’s degree in Ethnic Studies from the University of Colorado and a Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego Law School. 
  • Nancy Rodgers is currently a Deputy City Attorney for the City of Aurora, where she has been employed since June 2015. Prior to that, she worked for Kissinger & Fellman, P.C. from June 2006 to June 2015 as an Associate Attorney and then Partner.  She has experience with Netzorg McKeever Koclanes Bernhardt LLC as an Associate Attorney from May 2005 to June 2006. She was also employed as a Staff Attorney for Mountain States Employers Council (Employers Council) from October 2004 to May 2005.  Ms. Rodgers holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Colorado State University, a master’s degree in Higher Education from the University of Georgia, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver.
