CITY OF BOULDER: City Trail Work to Help Improve Outdoor Experiences for Visitors Experiencing Disabilities

Care check checkup 905874

City of Boulder issued the following announcement on July 22.

OSMP’s upcoming trail work will help make the trail more accessible for wheelchairs and improve overall universally accessible opportunities for community members. During construction, OSMP will close the soft surface trail that runs south of Baseline Road and is between South Boulder Creek and the paved multi-use path in the area. This closure will be in place from Monday, July 27, through Thursday, Aug. 13. Visitors can use the paved multi-use path east of the creek during this closure. OSMP encourages community members to park at the East Boulder Community Center because the department will place trail maintenance equipment and materials at the Bobolink Trailhead.

OSMP has long recognized the importance of providing a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities for people of all abilities and will continue that legacy as part of its Master Plan. The department follows – and often goes beyond – federal, state and local requirements to help community members enjoy open space trails and facilities. Many city open space trails, parking areas, shelters and facilities already meet accessibility guidelines established by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and/or U.S. Forest Service accessibility guidelines.
