This matchup marks the first meeting between Colorado (13-7, 4-4 Big 12) and Kansas State (11-10, 4-4 Big 12) this season and the 71st in program history. The series record is tied at 35 wins each. In their last encounter on January 25, 2025, Colorado defeated then-10th-ranked Kansas State by a score of 63-53 in Boulder.
Colorado comes into the game after a win over Oklahoma State last Sunday. The Buffs posted a strong performance with 42 points in the paint, 18 points off fast breaks, and 29 bench points. Senior forward Jade Masogayo led with a career-high matching 22 points along with five rebounds.
Head coach JR Payne is in her tenth year leading Colorado and has compiled a record of 176-123 as head coach. She has been extended through the 2028 season and has guided the team to three NCAA appearances.
The current roster includes four returning players from last season: senior forward Jade Masogayo, sophomore guard Kennedy Sanders, fifth-year center JoJo Nworie, and sophomore forward Tabitha Betson. Ten newcomers joined for the current season—five transfers and five freshmen.
Key contributors include Jade Masogayo, who is ranked among conference leaders for blocks per game; junior guard Desiree Wooten for scoring; junior guard Zyanna Walker for steals; senior forward Anaëlle Dutat for rebounding; and freshman forward Logyn Greer for blocks.
As a team, Colorado ranks in the top seven in several Big 12 statistical categories including steals per game (fourth), offensive rebounds per game (fourth), rebounding margin (sixth), scoring defense (sixth), rebounds per game (seventh), turnover margin (seventh), and free throw percentage (seventh).
Several players are approaching individual milestones ahead of Thursday’s contest. Freshman center Jade Crook needs just 23 more points to reach 100 career points while senior forward Anaëlle Dutat is nearing both her 700th point and continues to lead in total offensive rebounds within the conference.
The Buffs have consistently achieved double figures in assists this season except once and average nearly eleven steals per game. They have recorded four or more players scoring double digits in ten games so far this year.
