The Colorado volleyball team announced on May 7 the addition of transfer rising junior defensive specialist and libero Tinons Munar Galmés from Washington State. Head coach Jesse Mahoney said that Munar Galmés, who is originally from Majorca, Spain, will join the Buffaloes for the upcoming season.

Munar Galmés was recognized as a 2025 All-West Coast Conference honorable mention after playing in all 28 matches and totaling 332 digs, which led her team and ranked eighth in the conference. She also contributed 100 assists and 35 aces during the season. She recorded double-digit digs in 19 matches, including back-to-back performances with over 20 digs.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tinons to Boulder,” head coach Jesse Mahoney said. “As a two-year starter in the NCAA and with her extensive experience in the Spanish National Team pipeline, she will impact our program immediately.”

Last season, Munar Galmés had two assist-dig double-doubles and served at least one ace in eighteen matches. Her six aces against Seattle University tied for fourth-most all time at Washington State University (WSU) in a single match and second-most in program history for a three-set match. Before transferring to WSU, she played her freshman year at Florida A&M where she led her team with 434 digs and was named All-Southwestern Athletic Conference Second Team as well as SWAC All-Tournament.

The Buffaloes begin their Big 12 volleyball season on September 25 against Utah at CU Events Center following last year’s NCAA Second Round appearance. The program is also celebrating its fortieth anniversary this year with special events including a commemorative logo, wall of honor, and reunions announced last month.

Under Mahoney’s leadership, Colorado finished last season with a record of twenty-three wins and nine losses overall—its thirteenth twenty-win campaign—and made its twelfth second round appearance in NCAA tournament history.
