The Colorado track and field team finished competition on April 18 with five all-time top 10 performances and several personal bests across three different meets.
These results highlight a successful weekend for the program, as athletes set new standards in multiple events. The performances underscore the team’s progress as they prepare for upcoming competitions.
Avery Pearson delivered notable results at the Bryan Clay Invitational, running a time of 53.90 seconds in the 400 meters. This mark ranks fifth in program history and adds to her earlier No. 2 all-time performance in the 800 meters during the same meet. Freshman Teagan Malcom achieved a personal best of 52.40 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing twelfth overall at Bryan Clay.
At the Mt. SAC Relays, Danny Tragarz tied his personal best with a time of 50.48 seconds in the elite section of the 400-meter hurdles, placing fifth overall and third among collegiate competitors. Kole Mathison recorded a breakthrough run by clocking a personal-best time of 3:40.83 in the elite men’s 1500 meters at Bryan Clay, which places him eighth on Colorado’s all-time list.
In total, Colorado’s five top-10 marks from this weekend came from Pearson (No.2 all-time in the women’s 800m; No.5 all-time in women’s 400m), Lucas Williams (No.5 hammer throw), James Overberg (No.10 men’s 5000m), and Mathison (No.8 men’s 1500m).
The team will take next weekend off before competing again on May 3 at the Doug Max Invitational hosted by Colorado State University.
