Colorado lacrosse players Elena Oh and Jess Peluso have again received Big 12 Player of the Week honors, marking the fourth consecutive week that at least one Colorado athlete has been recognized by the conference.
Oh, a sophomore goalkeeper from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, earned her fourth straight Goalkeeper of the Week award. This is the second time in her career she has achieved four consecutive weekly honors in this category, having done so previously from March 4 to March 25 last season. In under two seasons, Oh has now collected eight Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week awards.
During Colorado’s recent games against ranked opponents, Oh made a total of 20 saves. She tied her career high with 12 saves against then-No. 18 Stony Brook and added eight more in Colorado’s win over then-No. 22 Army, where the Buffaloes won 13-6. Over these games, she recorded a .571 save percentage and allowed an average of just 7.5 goals per game. Nationally, Oh ranks seventh in save percentage (.534) and fifth in goals-against average (6.59).
Senior defender Jess Peluso from East Islip, New York was named Big 12 Defender of the Week for the third time in four weeks. Peluso played a key role on defense as Colorado limited both opponents to single-digit scoring and has not allowed more than ten goals in any game this season. In those two matchups, she caused six turnovers and collected four ground balls.
The Buffaloes are set to face their third consecutive ranked opponent when they play No. 8 Michigan on Sunday in Ann Arbor at 11 a.m. MT.
